Lets Pray for India

An innovative website LetsPrayForIndia.com that randomly assigns willing visitors, the name of a Lok Sabha constituency to pray for, during the 2014 General Elections in India, has been launched.

The initiative is the work of a group of professionals from Pune, Mangalore and Goa, all of who have one thing in common apart from being Christian - their strong belief in the power of prayer!

"Our rationale is that if good representatives are elected from each constituency, the Parliament will be full of good people and India will get a good government,"

explains Denzil S., one of the those involved with the project. “We need as many people’s prayers as possible,” he adds.

How it works?

The website which has an attractive background image incorporating the hues of the nation’s tricolour, allows visitors to enter their names and email addresses.

Upon clicking the “Adopt” button, the visitor is randomly presented with the name of a constituency to pray for, along with a couple of external sites which provide additional information about one’s ‘adopted’ constituency.

The website also has a touching prayer for the elections.

All this information is transmitted to the prayer volunteer as a one-time email for reference.

There is also a facebook page at facebook.com/letsprayforindia

Background

Probably the first initiative of its kind in India, the site creators were inspired by a similar website - ‘Adopt a Cardinal’ - that went online following the resignation of the head of the Catholic Church, Pope Benedict XVI, last year.

They strongly believe that the ‘organised prayers’ of so many people around the world were instrumental in electing Pope Francis, who has not only endeared himself to the public, but also shown himself to be a powerful model of leadership in service.

India will go to the polls in nine phases from 7 April to 12 May 2014 to elect Members of Parliament from 543 parliamentary constituencies to constitute the 16th Lok Sabha. The election results will be declared on 16 May 2014.

The most populous democracy in the world, India has an electoral strength of 81.45 crores (814.5 million) in 2014.LetsPrayForIndia.com invites all India lovers to pledge their prayers for the nation as it prepares to elect new leaders.

When all things fall apart, most of them turn to God, but here’s something different. A group of Professionals from Bangalore and Pune get together to start a campaign to Pray for their country, their leaders and the citizens during the upcoming Elections.

The Power of Prayer is what they believe in, and what brought them closer, with an innovative idea to launch a website ‘LetsPrayforIndia.com‘ which randomly assigns willing visitors, the name of a Lok Sabha constituency to pray for, during the 2014 General Elections in India.
